AUV for not importing live poultry from Albania: We are preventing the spread of the flu
The Food and Veterinary Agency has decided to stop the import of live poultry from Albania, after the appearance of bird flu.
The spokesperson of AUV, Lamir Thaçi, has said that this decision is a legal requirement at the moment the virus appears and is confirmed in each area of each country, which exports to the Republic of Kosovo.
Thaçi added that this decision is not a stopping measure or any barrier, but only has to do with preventing the spread of the bird flu virus.
“The measure to stop the import of poultry from the Durrës area in Albania is a measure to prevent the spread of bird flu, knowing that it is a disease that spreads rapidly. The decision is a legal request that our authority is obliged to take at the moment the virus appears and is confirmed in each area of each country that exports to the Republic of Kosovo. It is not a stopping measure or any barrier, this has to do with preventing the spread of the bird flu virus,” he said.
Thaçi emphasized that this decision does not have a negative effect in terms of commercial circulation because other commercial circulations are continuing normally with the Albanian authorities.
“I don’t see that there will be a negative effect in terms of commercial circulation because other commercial circulations are continuing normally with the Albanian authorities. The border has raised the level of control and all other cargo is being checked. Each country, based on international rules for animal health, has the obligation to report each confirmed case of the spread of this virus to the EU, and Albania itself has reported it, we have also reported it when we had it as a virus and we are in constant contacts with the authorities of the surrounding states and other states to stop the rapid spread of this virus”, said Thaçi.
He added that the AUV is in constant contact with both the farmers and the Poultry Association, where they have ordered to take all actions.
Thaçi explained that last year Kosovo managed to prevent the spread of this disease thanks to the commitment of all responsible institutions, that is why he asked for caution.
“We are in constant contact with both the farmers and the Poultry Association, we have ordered them to take all biosecurity measure actions on their farms and they are very vigilant with the controls they exercise on their farms. We are well prepared, we have an active emergency headquarters, and the officials feel the responsibility to take action in any situation that will happen, and since the Executive Director and each official has a task described within the crisis headquarters”, he concluded. he. /EO
