
Garmin Fenix 9 Pro Filing Confirms Satellite Split

Five Garmin model numbers have cleared regulatory testing since June: A05216, A05146, A05419, A05420 and A05170. Taken together with Garmin’s filing history, they suggest four devices will launch together in September: Enduro 4, Fenix 9 in both AMOLED and MIP-Solar versions, and Fenix E 2. A fifth device, a separate satellite-equipped Fenix 9 Pro, looks set to follow later. My current estimate for that one is January 2027, although I’m less confident about the date. The main reason is that this would be only a four-month release gap to a Pro version, which doesn’t really match Garmin’s recent release patterns. Even so, it fits the available evidence better than rumours claiming the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro will launch together later this year. I’ve explained the reasoning below.
Enduro 4: confirmed by filing, no satellite
I expected Enduro 4 to include satellite communications, matching the earlier A05216 analysis on this site, but the evidence now points in the opposite direction.
- Model A05216 cleared the FCC on 18 June 2026 under FCC ID IPH-05216, where it is classified as a mobile GNSS navigator. Just one day earlier, a teardown of Garmin Connect 5.26 uncovered the string “Enduro_4” alongside internal device ID 5179. The circumstantial timing is close enough to make this the strongest identification of any model in these filings.
- The filing lists ANT+, dual-band Wi-Fi and a single conventional inverted-F antenna. There are no frequency bands for cellular or satellite messaging, and nothing in the radio configuration matches the hardware used in Fenix 8 Pro.
- The release schedule also fits. Enduro 2 launched in August 2022, followed by Enduro 3 in August 2024, continuing a neat two-year cycle that points to another launch in 2026. Enduro 3 also launched on the same day as Fenix 8 and Fenix E, 27 August 2024, rather than weeks earlier or later. Both the release cadence and Garmin’s previous launch strategy point towards another joint launch this September.
An alternative scenario would see Enduro 4 launch on its own in August, followed by the three Fenix models in September. That’s certainly possible, as Enduro and Fenix are managed by different Garmin divisions.
Fenix 9: two filings, one product, both display types
The key point here is that Garmin normally files separate model numbers for AMOLED and MIP-Solar versions of the same watch. Different case sizes do not usually require separate filings.
- Models A05419 and A05420 were certified in Indonesia’s DJID database, the country’s telecom certification registry, on 14 July 2026 under certificates 124147 and 124149. Both are classified as “Outdoor Product” and were submitted by PT Garmin Indonesia Distribution on the same day.
- Garmin has used this approach before for MIP and AMOLED models. Fenix 8 was filed as two separate models, IPH-04853 and IPH-04854, split by display technology rather than product tier. At launch, there was no Pro version. Fenix 8 Pro arrived more than a year later with its own separate filing.
- Using that same pattern, A05419 and A05420 look like the AMOLED and MIP-Solar versions of a single Fenix 9 rather than a standard model and a Pro model. If that’s correct, MIP-Solar remains in the base (non-Pro) Fenix lineup. That would also contradict at least one widely shared leak, which claims the standard Fenix 9 will only be available with an AMOLED display.
Fenix E 2: the filing that stands alone
Model A05146 was certified in Indonesia on 2 July 2026 under certificate 123673. Like the other filings, it is classified simply as an “Outdoor Product”, and filed at a similar time to the Fenix 9 pair.
Fenix E has always been a single-size, single-display watch, with no Pro or Solar version. A standalone filing fits that product much better than anything else currently in Garmin’s outdoor range. That’s why I believe this is Fenix E 2, but based on elimination rather than anything more concrete.
The confidence levels here are quite low, but the close timing to Fenix 9 and the fact that there is an E model alongside the 8 series make this a good bet.
Fenix 9 Pro: satellite, filed separately
This filing is for a satellite and cellular model, a top-end Garmin outdoor watch.
- Model A05170 received FCC approval on 5 August 2026 under FCC ID IPH-05170, a portable digital transceiver confirmed wrist-worn by its SAR report. The radio covers LTE-M bands 2, 4 and 12 with voice, NB-NTN satellite bands 23 and 255 for data, plus Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ANT+ and NFC. Test units used silicone, heathered black nylon and vented titanium straps, materials that point to a premium watch.
- It is the only one of the five filings with cellular or satellite hardware, and it arrived just three weeks after the Fenix 9 pair. The only precedent for a same-day Pro launch is Fenix 6 and Fenix 6 Pro in 2019, old enough now that I wouldn’t lean on it heavily.
- Confidentiality on the photos and manual ends 1 February 2027, and Garmin typically launches ahead of that deadline; the main reason I’m tentatively suggesting January.
I would have guessed Enduro 4 for this filing before starting this piece. The evidence points elsewhere instead.

Korea’s RRA certified five Garmin numbers on 5 August, AA5168 to AA5172, the same day the FCC granted A05170. Only AA5170 matches a confirmed filing. My read: the other four, AA5168, AA5169, AA5171 and AA5172, are additional models or variants tied to that satellite filing, not separate products.
These 5 can’t be five new MARQ variants, nor can they be regional variants; that would need 3 regional variants of two models, i.e., 6, not 5 filings.
