Speaking to Qatar-based Al Araby TV, his mother said the family had stopped their car after encountering Israeli soldiers in the Tel Rumeida area. “My husband raised his hands from the steering wheel to show he was not a threat. Immediately afterward, the soldier opened fire at us,” she said.

She said the bullet struck her husband, then hit Sam in the head and wounded her as well. “When I looked at him, I saw he was covered in blood,” she said, adding that she carried him into the street and pleaded for help before he died about an hour later. “At the hospital, I said goodbye to him for the last time. I said goodbye to my beloved, and then he was brought for burial.”
