The fifth consecutive citizen protest has begun against the project to build a tourist resort in the Zvërnec protected area.

The citizens gathered again at Skanderbeg Square and then began the march towards the Prime Minister’s Office. “Our voice, our dignity, our future,” is the slogan of today’s protest.

There were no shortage of loud cries at the protest; “Rama should resign! Albania is not for sale”!

Citizens have made it clear that this protest is outside of politics and this has also been noted during previous protests where citizens chanted “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison.”

Yesterday’s rally began with tensions where the police had set up metal fences, which did not prevent citizens from joining in after clashes with the officers or the fact that pepper spray was used against them by police cars.

In chorus, the protesters chanted a series of slogans, among them calls for the resignation of the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
